SYNOD, COUNCIL TO MEET IN EXTRAORDINARY JOINT SESSION
The Metropolitan Council has been informed that the Synod of Bishops has agreed to a joint meeting of the Synod and Council as requested by the Metropolitan Council at their last meeting. (Read the OCA's report of that meeting here) The extraordinary joint meeting has been tenatively scheduled by the Synod for December 12-13th in the New York area. In view of the new joint meeting, members of the Council were told that the previously scheduled Metropolitan Council meeting to be held November 9-10 has been cancelled.
The Bishops adjourned their meeting yesterday afternoon, a half-day earlier than originally planned, having completed their scheduled agenda. Although they did not hear a report directly from Proskauer Rose LLP on the status of their investigation into the central administration of the OCA, a summary of the meeting with Proskauer Rose earlier this month was presented by some who attended the meeting. Additional reports on the annual and special appeals, the 2004-2005 audits, the six-month financial review of 2006, the work of the Administrative Reorganization Task Force, plans for the 15th All-American Council as well as reports on Pension Board changes were also heard.
