Boston Cathedral Decries Scandal,
Offers Support to Archbishop Job
& Midwest Diocese
At its parish meeting on Sunday October 29th, immediately following the New England diocesan assembly in Maynard MA, the day before, Holy Trinity Cathedral in Boston adopted the following letter of support for Archbishop Job of Chicago and the Midwest. (The Archbishop was formerly the Bishop of New England.) The letter reads:
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Nikon, we the clergy and faithful of Holy Trinity Cathedral in Boston, Massachusetts send this letter to express our support and thanks for your courage, integrity and love for the Church. Standing with our bishop and with you, we desire to see the current crisis in our autocephalous Church come to a peaceful solution that restores and strengthens what has been compromised by dishonesty, financial mismanagement and moral failures.
Your example of having to endure personal attacks and humiliation coming from hierarchs, clergy and laity compels us to work with our bishop to rebuild a canonical infrastructure that stands on honor and the selfless offering of talents by those entrusted to ministerial and bureaucratic positions.
As a parish of the diocese of New England, we join you and those of your diocese who desire to achieve a resolution that will provide a foundation for subsequent generations who will want to continue building and strengthening a local Orthodox Church in America.
With love in Christ,
Archpriest Robert M. Arida
and the Faithful of Holy Trinity Cathedral”
